Use the Business Technology Investment Committee template to track the investment scores for projects. The spreadsheet automatically tallies results at an aggregate level. Team members rate an investment based on six criteria:
  1. Strategic Fit
  2. Operational Fit 
  3. End-of-life (e.g. for systems that are not vendor supported)
  4. Attractiveness of cost benefit
  5. Risk (Is the project likely to be successful or is there risk)
  6. Cost Certainty (How confident are you in the cost of the project)

There are instructions included in the spreadsheet. It is simple to use.
